Ask: How Long Before Status Message go to Idle?
Possible Answer #1: If you mean Idle Status in IM Client of Yahoo Messenger, the answer is: its depend to preference setting on your Yahoo Messenger Client under Preferences –> Privacy –> Show me as “Idle” if I don’t use the computer for  minutes.  is the lowest number and can be edited as many as your want. And you’ll never get “Idle” status if you choose “Do not show anyone how long I have been idle.”
Possible Answer #2: If you means “Idle” in Facebook Chat: It probably your status would go to Idle after 10 minutes.
Possible Answer #3: If you means Idle in Google Talk aka GTalk: It around 10 minutes before you go Idle, but you can set to always Idle by using GTalk Tool called Always Idle
Possible Answer #4: In AIM / Aol Instant Messenger it could be around 5 to 10 minutes before you go to “Idle”.
Possible Answer #5: If you means Idle in Windows Live Messenger / WLM / MSN Messenger, by default, it set around 10 minutes before Idle Status, but you can change just like in Yahoo Messenger to lower or higher minutes.
According to all of the answer above, it could be all of Messenger Services that had Idle Status would be set by default time to go “Idle” in 10 minutes (iChat, ICQ, and others)
Conclusion: Idle Message Status occurs only if you doesn’t touch the mouse or keyboard for the default of 10 minutes.
