Geny is a Chat Client for Yahoo Messenger that been purposed to works under UNIX such as Linux Platform/GNU. It free application even has open source license that would allow you to access and modify the code. It working properly (been tested) in Ubuntu, and with strong probabilities, it might also works under other LINUX distro: Fedora, openSUSE, Red Hat, and others.

Almost all of Yahoo Messenger features (official features in official YM Chat client) are covered by GenY, it even including Webcam viewer, Chat Room, Conference and others. Buddy List and Grouping Contact List, Spam Control, Chat Room List, Status Message, Captcha, SMS Messaging, Ignore List, File Transfer (receiving file and photos) also featured in GenY.
Not Listed Yet in GenY: Sent File (Photo), Send Webcam, Voice Chat and Emoticons.

on Ubuntu 10.10 I do as asked to install but just get the following…
./geny: error while loading shared libraries: libphonon.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
help please.. I have checked and libphonon4 is installed ok
